I was visiting a shopping mall in Sydney with my son-in-law just this afternoon and we went into an electrical shop unit to look at some of the various electrical equipment on display. Iwas particularly happy to note that many of the equipment on disp at the shop had labels which proudly informed the intended purchasers that the particular equipment (e.g. air-conditioners, fridges, chillers, freezers) has 5 or 4 stars land would consume “X” kjh per year of electricity. It is impressive that such displays are mandated by the Government and this is, of course, not only help the intended purchaers but also ultimately helps the whole momentum of getting consumers to be energy efficient in using electrical equipment but also in other aspects as well. This should be the way forward for Malaysians as well. Though I have talked about an EE awareness campaign before, I would like to see this campaign get off as soon as possible. Any ideas anyone?

Different people came away from the Copenhagen Conference on climate change with different conclusions. Judging from the comments of most people who participated during the two weeks of intense negotiations, the Conference was disappointing in what it failed to achieve. Even though I was not there, I could feel the tension of the negotiators at the venue as I had such an experience of taking part in multi-lateral sessions as taken place at Copenhagen recently.
Be that as it may, there was not much hope that the outcome of the conference would be something dramatic and historical in the first place. As I had commented earlier, there was so much differences in stance between the developed and developing nations that to expect the delegates to reach an agreement in Copenhagen was just a bit too much.
I would like to thank IRDA Chief Operations Officer, Encik Hilmi Mohd Nashir who has kindly given a briefing to my delegation at the IRDA office in Danga Bay during my recent visit to the district cooling building technology at the new Johor administration centre in Kota Iskandar.
I noticed that Iskandar Malaysia, a vast development with a mix of brownfield and greenfield areas, has the immense potential and opportunity for introducing green technology and lifestyle.

The recent concluded National KPI Open Day has received very encouraging response judging by the good attendances with Pak Lah, our former Prime Minister, amongst those notables.
With the open display of the various strategies for present and future plans and programmes to be carried out from next year onwards, the Government has ‘taken the bull by the horns’ to deliver to the people matters that are central and important for the progress of our Nation and the well-being of Malaysians.
This is clear indication of the PM’s determined and sustained efforts to correct whatever short-comings that exist in the present system.
With each of the six NKRAs, there is commitment in the needed funds so that the relevant ministries can carry plans and programs to fruition.
The rakyat should look forward to exciting time ahead.

I am delighted to read in today’s Star Metro that Cyberjaya is going green with the implementation of the Cyberjaya Green Roadmap. Congratulations to all those involved in the planning and implementation of this Green Roadmap. What is impressive is that this initiative is being undertaken as a corporate effort with its own capex investments for the benefit of those living and working at Cyberjaya. Such a move will no doubt attract investors as well as corporations to choose the area as being more suitable for locating their corporate headquarters and for their human resource development plans.
I am impressed with the array of green initiatives such as district cooling for the air-conditioning needs, water conservation, rainwater harvesting, brown water usage as well as supporting renewable energy projects in the area. These are the types of green initiatives that the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water has been and will be promoting going into 2010 and into the 10th Malaysia Plan period.

Actually most of us (lesser mortals and all) can claim that at one time or another (or now) do feel justifiably proud that our beloved country has indeed progressed ahead of many others.
We want this good feelings to continue and maybe even claim to have contributed towards this progress.
So it is important that this Nation of ours continue to progress and as citizens we should speak and act as a united people; in other words, we need to feel and act as 1 Malaysia.
By doing so we can succeed in all that we want to do for ourselves, our children and our Nation.
So are we committed to do all these things?
