Emission of GHG

There have been many comments and suggestions on how we as Malaysians can try to minimise the emission of GHG and thereby help to fulfill our Prime Minister’s pledge at COP 15 to reduce carbon emissions by 40% based on the 2005 level.

It is good to know that there is all round support for efforts to be energy efficient as well as using less whenever possible.

EARTH DAY 2010

Earth Day

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in held on April 22, 1970. Earth Day is celebrated in spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Many communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues. The first Earth Week originated in Philadelphia in 1970 (starting April 16 and culminating on Earth Day, April 22.) Earth Day Network, a group that wishes to become the coordinator of Earth Day globally, asserts that Earth Day is now observed on April 22 on virtually every country on Earth.

Today is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. At Precint 5, Putrajaya, my fellow colleague, Y.B Dato Sri Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister Of Natural Resources & Environment, launched the 26 Million Trees Planting Campaign & International Year of Biodiversity 2010 in Conjunction with Earth Day Celebration 2010 –Malaysian Chapter. “CONGRATULATIONS”!! http://www.bernama.com.my/bernama/v5/newsgeneral.php?id=492548

Let us do our parts in helping to preserve our environment.

TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.

There are many ways for us to show our commitments. You may also refer to this site http://www.earthday.org/ for more info.

More about reducing carbon footprints

I just came away from a seminar on green building technology.

I cant help thinking that there is so much that the ordinary house buyer can do to make sure that he/she buys a house that has at least some green features.

As the buyer, he/she can call the shots on such matters by choosing to buy only low carbon footprints houses.

Do take a second or two to this over!
